Job summary

Roc Search Europe Limited is seeking an experienced Systems Design Engineer to join a leading engineering business specialising in industrial refrigeration. You will design bespoke refrigeration systems for complex industrial applications, working from concept through to commissioning.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, perform thermodynamic calculations, select compressors and equipment, review P&IDs and documentation, and ensure compliance with standards.

Qualifications

• 7-10 years' experience in industrial refrigeration design.
• Essential: proven experience designing ammonia (NH₃) refrigeration systems.
• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, vapour compression systems and refrigeration equipment selection.
• Experience with engineering design software and technical documentation.
• Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design industrial refrigeration systems and produce thermal calculations.
• Calculate refrigeration loads, pipe sizing and pressure losses.
• Select compressors, heat exchangers, pumps, valves and associated equipment.
• Prepare and review P&IDs, technical documentation and engineering calculations.
• Work closely with project, electrical and controls engineers to deliver effective system designs.
• Provide technical support during project delivery, commissioning and customer meetings.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant standards and industry regulations.
