Job summary

Tempting Recruitment is assisting a local authority in East London to recruit a Systems Accountant for a 4-month period. The role focuses on managing and configuring financial systems, ensuring data integrity, and supporting both finance and non-finance users.

The ideal candidate will have AAT CCAB or related degree qualifications with relevant local government experience, and will be capable of maintaining governance structures and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• AAT qualified, CCAB part qualified or Degree in Finance related subject + 1 year experience, or AAT qualified + 2 years experience.
• Experience in a local government environment or similar organisation.
• System finance experience in maintaining scheme of delegation / controls and governance.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations and configuration of financial systems, ensuring data accuracy, financial integrity and segregation of duties.
• Conduct regular data cleansing and integrity checks, including large or unusual transactions, to keep the system accurate.
• Maintain core structures, including the chart of accounts, user access and approval hierarchies.
• Provide day-to-day support to finance and non-finance users on system access and queries.
• Monitor transactional activity and system processes to ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, internal policies and data protection requirements.
