Job description

Chemistry Development Nurse - Band 5

We are currently seeking a highly motivated nurse to join our nurse-led unit as a SACT Development Nurse at Celia Blakey Day Unit, William Harvey Hospital, Ashford.

Whilst this is a challenging role and requires someone who is flexible and adaptable to changing environments, it is very rewarding and offers great career progression.

No one day is the same and draws on and enables the post-holder to use a variety of skills and expertise. You must like working with people and want to make a real difference to our patients and families lives as well as make a positive contribution to the team and our service.

If you feel this is you and you would like to broaden your nursing career and specialize in this area, we would love to hear from you.

The Posts Offer

  • The opportunity to develop professionally with the aim of becoming a competent, knowledgeable chemotherapy nurse
  • The ability to give holistic care to the patient and their family, throughout their course of treatment
  • The opportunity to work in the very specialized area of cancer services
  • The ability to manage emotional issues relating to stages in the patient’s journey
  • The opportunity to be part of a team that works collaboratively with all care groups to develop a service for the care and management of patients with cancer.

The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care in which they are competent, without direct supervision, and may be required to supervise and support the training of both qualified and unqualified members of staff.

We are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with five hospitals and community clinics serving a local population of around 800,000 people.

Our vision is 'great healthcare from great people'. Everything we do is guided by our values: ‘People feel cared for, safe, respected and confident that we are making a difference’.

We have a new way of working at East Kent Hospitals, called ‘We care’. It’s about empowering frontline staff to lead improvements day-to-day. We’re looking for compassionate people to be part of our improvement journey for the patients, families and carers we care for every day.

Applications for this role should be written by the applicant. If artificial intelligence (AI) programmes are used, then the application may be rejected due to this document being an important part of the assessment process. This does not prevent applicants seeking appropriate support with applications should they need to for the purposes of any declared disability.

Please note that if you require a Certificate of Sponsorship to work in the UK, you must declare this on your application form, even if you currently have a certificate of sponsorship or a work permit for another role and are already working in the country. Please note we are only able to sponsor candidates on a Skilled Worker Visa applying for roles Band 5 and above.
