Job summary

Technify Talent is seeking a System Test Lead for an advanced integrated systems project in Reading. You will own the system-level validation from scratch, balancing hands-on hardware/software testing with strategic leadership.

The role requires building test strategies, defining plans, and leading a small team across lab and field environments. Expect significant hands-on work, problem solving, and collaboration with software and hardware engineers to ensure real-world reliability.

Qualifications

• Proven experience independently building a test strategy and test plan from scratch for integrated hardware/software systems.
• Hands-on automation experience with designing and implementing automation frameworks.
• Experience testing integrated systems involving software and physical components.
• Background with hardware, sensors, electronics or similar technologies.
• Comfortable in hands-on, real-world test environments, not just management.
• Strong problem-solving skills across system-level issues.
• Experience leading testing activities at a senior/lead level.
• Experience in robotics, medical devices, IoT or similar industries.
• Exposure to field trials, live environments, or operational systems.
• Experience mentoring or setting direction for a wider test team.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the system test strategy and test plan from scratch.
• Lead end-to-end testing of integrated hardware + software systems.
• Plan and execute field and lab-based test activities.
• Work hands-on with system setup, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Analyse system behaviour under real-world conditions.
• Own and drive test automation, defining approach, tooling, and coverage.
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams to resolve complex issues.
