Job summary

Thales Group in Belfast is seeking a System Safety & Environmental Engineer to lead safety and environmental integration across complex defence programmes. The role emphasises hazard analysis, risk reduction and robust safety arguments to support certification.

Based on site in Belfast, the engineer will drive safety decisions across design, integration and testing, while ensuring compliance with IAS safety management and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• Proven track record leading safety engineering activities within complex programmes.
• Experience conducting hazard analyses and risk assessments for certified products.
• Knowledge of product safety standards and environmental management principles.
• Ability to apply systems engineering principles across full lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Deliver S&EM activities across project teams and IAS Safety Management System.
• Drive hazard analysis, risk assessment and mitigation.
• Provide leadership across multidisciplinary teams, embedding safety in engineering decisions.
• Champion compliance with safety and environmental legislation, standards and governance.
• Plan and manage S&EM work packages and support certification activities.
