Job summary

Thales seeks a Senior System Safety & Environmental Engineer (IAS) based in Belfast, onsite with travel. You will lead safety strategy across complex defence programmes, shaping safety across the system lifecycle and driving risk reduction with robust assurance evidence.

You'll oversee hazard analysis, safety case development and compliance with Defence standards, guiding multidisciplinary teams to deliver certifiable, safe and trusted solutions for customers in regulated environments.

Qualifications

• Proven safety engineering leadership in regulated programmes.
• Experience in hazard analysis and risk assessment.
• Knowledge of safety-critical software, SILs/DALs and assurance methods.

Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver Safety & Environmental Management activities within integrated project teams and ensure compliance with the IAS Safety Management System.
• Conduct hazard identification, hazard analysis and risk assessment across system performance and verification activities.
• Influence multidisciplinary teams with evidence-based safety arguments to maintain S&EM requirements throughout the lifecycle.
• Champion compliance with relevant safety and environmental standards, policies and governance processes.
• Plan and manage S&EM work packages, producing hazard analyses and safety cases with robust assurance evidence.
