Role Details
  • Position: System Engineer
  • Location: Birmingham (SCC operate hybrid working, which comprises a mix of office and home working)
  • Contract Type: Permanent
  • Salary: £26,000 plus large company benefits, a broad flexible benefits scheme, and 2 paid volunteering days a year
  • Hours: 9.00 am – 5.30 pm Monday – Friday
  • Interview Process: 2-stage process

Role Purpose

Attend customer sites as part of the systems engineering team to undertake installations, moves, and changes following customer-generated scripts. Responsibilities include un-packing IT equipment, installing in specific locations, configuring units to pre-defined standards, and undertaking engineering project work such as software and hardware installations, decommissioning, and auditing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support deployment of IT hardware and software at customer sites within required parameters.
  • Install & configure desktops, laptops, peripherals, including data migration, network printing, and drives.
  • Assist with initial builds and configurations of laptops and desktops for end users.
  • Deliver IT support and deployment services proactively to a diverse customer portfolio.
  • Support deployment activities through floor walking.
  • Ensure customer issues are handled professionally and promptly using strong technical and customer service skills.
  • Complete all work to a high standard and in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with managers and stakeholders within SCC and customer organizations.
  • Work independently or as part of a team on customer sites.
  • Embrace and train on new technologies to maintain role standards.
  • Comply with policies and health & safety guidelines.
  • Assist project leaders or senior engineers with project activities as required.
  • Be flexible with working hours and willing to travel, including international travel and overnight stays.
  • Work overtime when necessary.
  • Adhere to SCC and customer policies and responsibilities.
Skills and Experience
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Full UK driving license (if required).
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
  • Flexible and pragmatic approach.
  • Ability to obtain necessary security clearances.
  • Self-motivated with good organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrable IT sector experience and technical capability.
