Job summary

ECM Selection Ltd. in Cambridge is seeking a software engineer with strong Linux, scripting, and FPGA experience to join a small engineering team. The role focuses on testing, automation, and deploying FPGA-accelerated software on-site and overseas.

You will work in a hands-on environment within the financial sector, contributing to high-availability, ultrafast processing and collaboration across the team. A highly competitive package is on offer.

Qualifications

• 2.1 in Computer Science or equivalent from a respected university.
• Proven ability to learn new skills and quickly solve problems.
• Excellent practical knowledge of the Linux operating system.
• Experience deploying and testing software systems, including bespoke hardware.
• Strong scripting skills with Bash or Python.
• Solid understanding of software engineering tools such as GitHub and CI/CD.
• UK work permission without time limit or sponsorship.
• Knowledge of FPGA-based systems, Verilog, or Rust is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Carry out manual system-level testing to ensure software performance and usability.
• Take the lead on moving towards automation.
• Deploy finished releases to bespoke FPGA-accelerated Linux systems on-site and overseas.
• Tackle emergent issues with deployments.
• Characterise and diagnose problems with the software itself.
• Provide occasional out-of-hours support when needed.
