Job summary

ECM Selection (Holdings) Limited in Cambridge seeks a tester/engineer to manage deployments and verify Linux-based systems. You will perform manual testing for performance and usability, while taking the lead on automating processes and deployments.

The role involves deploying to FPGA-accelerated Linux systems, on-site and overseas, and addressing deployment issues. Some out-of-hours support may be required in a high-availability environment.

Qualifications

• Impressive academic credentials, at least a 2.1 in Computer Science or similar.
• Excellent practical knowledge of the Linux operating system.
• Experience deploying and testing software with integrated bespoke hardware.
• Strong scripting skills with Bash or Python.
• Understanding of software engineering tools such as GitHub.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual system level testing to ensure software performance and usability.
• Lead the move towards automation for deployments and tests.
• Deploy finished releases to bespoke FPGA-accelerated Linux systems on-site and overseas.
• Tackle emergent deployment issues and diagnose software problems.
• Characterise and diagnose problems with the software as part of support.
