A local government authority in Shotts seeks a qualified swimming instructor to manage and teach in their swimming lesson programme. You will operate swimming lessons effectively, ensuring adherence to safety standards while delivering quality service to all participants. The role requires a Scottish Swimming Teacher Qualification (SSTQ) Level 1 or higher and an understanding of the leisure industry's health and safety requirements. As part of the Aquatics team, working across North Lanarkshire's swimming pools, you will ensure the safe and effective operation of the swimming lesson programme, teach and develop appropriate lessons for groups and individuals to meet the needs of each level within the Scottish Swimming Learn to Swim Framework.
• Safely operate and program the swimming lesson programme across pool sites.
• Teach, develop and assess lessons for all age and skill groups.
• Ensure all health and safety requirements within the leisure industry are met.
• Work flexibly to cover programme hours.
• Minimum Scottish Swimming Teacher Qualification (SSTQ) Level 1 or equivalent.
• Understanding of health and safety within leisure industry.
• Excellent communication, customer care skills and team player attitude.
• Ability to work independently and on own initiative.
• Membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme via Disclosure Scotland before commencement.
Location: Shotts Leisure Centre
Pattern: 6.5 hours per week – Thursday 3.45pm‑6.45pm and Saturday 9am‑12.30pm
• Competitive salary – £28,665‑£29,757 pro rata.
