Job summary

Berry Recruitment is seeking a Sweeper Driver for a client in Exeter. The role focuses on keeping public spaces clean and safe, including litter removal, basic cleaning, and reporting issues to line management.

You will work a Monday to Friday rota with regular hours. A full UK driving licence is required; CPC training will be provided. The position is temporary with the potential to become permanent.

Qualifications

• Must hold a full UK driving licence.
• Safety-conscious and flexible to shift patterns.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• CPC qualification or requirement with full training provided.

Responsibilities

• Remove litter and empty bins as required.
• Perform graffiti and fly-post removal, weed trimming and basic cleansing.
• Clean public toilets and car parks as necessary.
• Inspect facilities and report maintenance issues.
• Identify work for specialist teams (e.g. grounds maintenance, sweeping).
• Record time sheets, daily checks and inspection logs.
• Follow health and safety procedures and council policies.
• Work flexibly across shift patterns to meet service demands.
• Undertake other reasonable duties as required.

Sweeper Driver

Location: Exeter

Pay: £13.93 per hour

Contract Type: Temporary with possibility of becoming Permanent

Berry Recruitment is currently recruiting a Sweeper Driver on behalf of our client based in Exeter. This is a temporary position offering consistent hours and the opportunity to play an important role in maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming public spaces.

Working Hours

You will work Monday to Friday on a rota basis:

• 7:00am - 3:30pm
• 6:00am - 2:00pm

Key Responsibilities

• Removing litter and emptying litter bins as required
• Carrying out basic graffiti and fly-post removal, weed trimming, and general cleansing duties
• Cleaning public toilets and car parks when necessary
• Undertaking basic inspections of facilities and reporting any maintenance issues
• Identifying further work required for specialist teams (e.g. grounds maintenance, mechanical sweeping, tree work, large-scale graffiti removal, deep cleaning)
• Reporting issues affecting the appearance and safety of public spaces, including fly-tipping, abandoned vehicles, damaged street furniture, stray dogs, or misuse of council land
• Completing basic records such as time sheets, daily checks, and inspection logs
• Following all health & safety procedures and council policies at all times
• Working flexibly across shift patterns to meet service demands
• Undertaking any other reasonable duties relevant to the role
