Job summary

Environment Agency is seeking a Planning Advisor (Town and Country Planning) to work across the West Midlands with Local Planning Authorities. You will advise on planning applications and pre-application matters, coordinating with flood risk, water quality, contaminated land and biodiversity teams to deliver informed environmental outcomes.

You will build strong relationships, influence stakeholders, and manage projects while meeting strict deadlines.

Qualifications

• You will have an environmental or planning degree.
• Strong influencing and negotiation skills are essential.
• Excellent IT and communication skills; ability to engage with diverse audiences.
• Effective writing to influence customers and build relationships.

Responsibilities

• Engage with Local Planning Authorities to advise on planning applications and pre-application advice.
• Coordinate with flood risk, water quality, contaminated land, biodiversity and environmental management teams.
• Manage relationships with developers, consultants and water companies.
• Meet deadlines and targets under pressure; support incident response training.
