Job summary

Buckinghamshire Council is seeking an experienced Sustainable Drainage Team Leader to oversee the Sustainable Drainage Team and LLFA responsibilities across major development proposals and strategic infrastructure. You will lead a team of specialists, promote SuDS best practice, and influence planning policy within a climate-resilient development framework.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Geography, or related field.
• Significant LLFA/planning or consultancy experience.
• Extensive knowledge of SuDS and surface water management.
• Experience leading technical staff.
• Strong understanding of planning system and LLFA role.
• Experience working on major development proposals.
• Ability to manage priorities within statutory timescales.
• Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience contributing to planning policy or guidance.
• CIWEM/ICE membership advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership on surface water drainage and flood risk.
• Lead a team of specialists and coordinate with planners, developers and authorities.
• Promote high-quality sustainable drainage and blue-green infrastructure.
• Shape local planning policy and support the Buckinghamshire Local Plan.
• Drive service improvements within the CCFRM and LLFA functions.
