Job summary

Coventry City Council is seeking a proactive Sustainability Officer to support delivery of the Climate Action Plan, reduce carbon emissions, tackle fuel poverty, and strengthen resilience to climate change. You will lead the Warm Homes Local Grant programme with the Strategic Energy Partner, E.ON, enhancing energy efficiency across Coventry.

Qualifications

• Understanding of sustainability and urban environmental challenges.
• Experience coordinating or delivering projects with shifting priorities.
• Knowledge of external funding opportunities and grant management.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to work independently.
• Good data literacy to monitor progress and support reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate sustainability projects to deliver on time and within resources.
• Deliver the Warm Homes Local Grant programme with partners to improve home energy efficiency.
• Identify external funding opportunities, prepare bids and manage grants.
• Engage residents, communities, businesses and partners in climate action.
• Monitor project performance, manage risks and budgets, report progress.
• Support communications and engagement activities promoting sustainability citywide.
• Build relationships across the Council and with regional/national partners.
