Job summary

Talk Recruitment is seeking a Sustainability Manager for West Midlands construction projects. The role covers the full spectrum of sustainability delivery, including BREEAM verification, carbon reduction and circular economy initiatives, coordinating with design teams, contractors and stakeholders.

The successful candidate will lead on data reporting, policy development and the execution of the group sustainability strategy across public and private sector projects.

Qualifications

• Experience as Sustainability Manager or similar.
• Main contractor experience preferred or transferable from consultancy.
• Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Lead on sustainability reporting, data verification and improvement.
• Support BREEAM assessments at design and construction stages.
• Drive carbon emissions reductions and resource efficiency.
• Assist in developing NZC targets, policy and strategy.
• Support the Group Sustainability strategy deployment across the business.
• Contribute to bids and business development with sustainability inputs.
• Identify opportunities for innovation and efficiency improvements.

Sustainability Manager - Construction / Building– West Midlands

ROLE:

The Sustainability Manager is a pro-active generalist, able to cover all major issues of sustainability with all relevant stakeholders. This role is responsible for the delivery of high priority project’s sustainability deliverables including BREEAM verification of data, as well as leading on carbon emissions reduction reaching Net Zero Carbon, waste reduction and circular economy.

DUTIES:

• Leading on sustainability performance reporting, improvement and verification of data
• Supporting on BREEAM at design stage and construction stage
• Leading on carbon emissions reduction and the wider resource efficiency agenda
• Assisting in the development of new strategy, policy and NZC targets for the company.
• Supporting the business in the implementation and delivery of the Group Sustainability strategy, its ambitions and targets
• Supporting sustainability input to business development & bids
• Carrying out research and development, identifying opportunities, encouraging innovation and improvements in transferability to increase efficiency and work-winning
• Influencing and networking, speaking and profile raising

REQUIREMENTS:

• Previous employment as a Sustainability Manager or similar to be considered.
• Ideally Previous Main Contractor employment but not essential, also open to consider candidates transferring experience across from consultancies.
• High level of communication skills.
