Purpose of the role
To communicate the execution of the bank's strategy and objectives effectively to relevant external stakeholders.
Accountabilities
- Delivery and execution of the bank's external communications strategy to ensure messages are effectively communicated to relevant stakeholders across multiple channels, both owned and earned.
- Development of strategy-aligned campaigning, tactical content, and news flow that clearly and effectively communicates the bank's values, goals, and objectives to the public.
- Maintenance of external stakeholder relationships, such as media outlets and industry groups, ensuring that messages through press releases, owned channels, and media statements accurately reflect the bank's strategy, values, and reputation.
- Reputational risk minimization and management for the bank and its senior leadership through effective risk mitigation advice and management of negative news flow or crisis issues.

Role Specifics
As a Vice President, Sustainability Communications Manager, you will support the development and execution of the group-level multichannel communication strategy related to global challenges, positive impact, business growth, and reputational risk management to support Barclays' climate strategy. Your responsibilities include creating content and campaigns for diverse audiences, contributing to sustainability disclosures, and coordinating with various teams to track ESG landscape challenges and opportunities.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a communications strategy to support Unreasonable Impact.
- Create key messaging and content for thought leadership, including social media amplification.
- Support ESG reporting/disclosures in collaboration with Finance/IR and Sustainable Finance teams.
- Coordinate messaging for speaking events and stakeholder meetings.
- Assist the Group Media team with media opportunities.
- Develop employee engagement content in partnership with Employee Communications.
- Promote best practices in sustainability communications and disclosures.
- Stay informed on sustainability and ESG policies, standards, and regulations impacting Barclays and anticipate future directions.
Desired Experience:
- Extensive experience in campaigning and media work, preferably in financial services.
- Experience with financial reporting and ESG disclosures.
- Understanding of current sustainability issues, policies, news, and relevant standards.
- Proven ability to develop and implement multichannel communication strategies and campaigns.
- Experience managing agencies and stakeholders across locations.
- Ability to foster collaborative relationships.
