Job description

As a Vice President, Sustainability Communications Manager, you will support the development and execution of the Group-level multi-channel and audience communications strategy related to global challenges, positive impact, business growth, and managing reputational risk to support Barclays’ climate strategy. You will be responsible for creating content and campaigns that are multi-channel focused and for amplification to a broad range of stakeholders and audiences. Additionally, you will contribute to writing and coordinating sustainability content for disclosures.

You will support the Head of Sustainability Communications and work closely with Employee Communications, Digital, Strategic Policy, and Media Relations to monitor the ESG landscape, identify challenges and opportunities, and deliver best-in-class communications across traditional and digital channels to position Barclays as a leader in ESG and Sustainability.

Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and execute a communications strategy to support Unreasonable Impact.
  2. Create key messaging and content for thought leadership, including social media amplification.
  3. Support ESG reporting/disclosures in collaboration with Finance/IR and Sustainable Finance teams.
  4. Coordinate messaging for speaking events and stakeholder meetings.
  5. Assist the Group Media team in managing media opportunities.
  6. Develop employee engagement content with Employee Communications.
  7. Promote best practices in sustainability communications and disclosures across PPCR.
  8. Stay informed on sustainability and ESG policies, standards, and regulations impacting Barclays, including upcoming policies and trends.
Required Experience:
  • Extensive experience in campaigning and media relations, preferably in financial services.
  • Experience with financial reporting and ESG disclosures.
  • Understanding of current sustainability issues, policies, news, and reporting standards.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement communication strategies and campaigns across platforms.
  • Experience managing agencies and stakeholders, including senior management and vendors.
  • Ability to build effective, collaborative relationships.

You may be assessed on critical skills such as risk management, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital skills, and technical expertise.

This role is based in London.

Purpose of the role

To communicate the bank’s strategy and objectives effectively to external stakeholders.

Accountabilities
  • Deliver and execute the bank’s external communications strategy across multiple channels.
  • Create strategic campaigns and content that communicate the bank’s values and objectives.
  • Maintain relationships with media outlets and industry groups to ensure aligned messaging.
  • Manage reputational risk and advise on risk mitigation and crisis management.
