Job summary

Atlas NextWave in Aberdeen is seeking an experienced Survey Workshop Engineer to maintain and test offshore survey equipment. You will diagnose faults, coordinate repairs, and keep accurate servicing records to ensure readiness for deployment.

You’ll register new gear, support vessel mobilisations, manage spare parts, and contribute to equipment improvements and R&D within a global engineering organisation.

Qualifications

• College education and/or industry training in survey-related electronic engineering or a similar discipline.
• Experience in testing, maintaining and repairing survey equipment in a workshop environment.
• Knowledge of survey and positioning systems used in offshore or marine environments.

Responsibilities

• Test, maintain, inspect and prepare survey and positioning equipment per QA/QC procedures.
• Diagnose faults and coordinate repairs with equipment suppliers as needed.
• Maintain records of servicing, calibration and maintenance activities.
• Register and track new equipment using the asset management system.
• Provide technical support to offshore survey personnel and assist with planning.
• Support vessel mobilisations/demobilisations and manage workshop consumables.
• Contribute to equipment improvement initiatives and R&D activities.

Job description

Are you an experienced engineer with a background in survey equipment maintenance and testing? Atlas NextWave are supporting a leading international offshore and marine services organisation to appoint a Survey Workshop Engineer to join their Survey Asset team in Aberdeen.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting offshore operations by ensuring critical survey and positioning equipment is maintained, tested, and ready for deployment.

Key Responsibilities

• Test, maintain, inspect and prepare survey and positioning equipment in accordance with QA/QC procedures.
• Diagnose faults and coordinate repairs with equipment suppliers where required.
• Maintain accurate records of equipment servicing, calibration, repairs and maintenance activities.
• Register and track new equipment using the asset management system.
• Provide technical support and advice to offshore survey personnel.
• Assist with equipment selection and availability planning for project requirements.
• Support vessel mobilisations and demobilisations when required.
• Monitor inventory levels and manage workshop consumables and spare parts.
• Contribute to technical updates, equipment improvement initiatives and R&D activities.
• Support warehouse operations, including packing, receiving and handling third-party equipment.

Qualifications

• College education and/or industry training in survey-related electronic engineering or a similar discipline.

Experience

• Previous experience working in a workshop environment testing, maintaining and repairing survey equipment.
• Knowledge of survey and positioning systems used within offshore or marine environments.

Technical Skills

• Experience installing and interfacing survey equipment and associated sensors.
• Ability to read and interpret electronic and mechanical technical drawings.
• Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting capabilities.

IT Skills

• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
