Role purpose:

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will play a key commercial role within the GSA, supporting the Managing Surveyor in delivering robust commercial governance, accurate cost management, and high-quality commercial intelligence across assigned work packages.   • Manage commercial activities across allocated work packages, ensuring effective cost control, accurate measurement, and strong financial governance;
  • Prepare, review, and validate cost value reconciliations, forecasts, and reports to support informed decision‑making;
  • Oversee subcontractor account management, including change control, valuations, supplier performance, and payment applications;
  • Administer NEC4 contracts, including early warnings, compensation events, contractual communications, and change management processes;
  • Work closely with project teams to identify, assess, record, and manage change in a timely and accurate manner;
  • Maintain high‑quality commercial records and documentation, ensuring compliance, audit readiness, and alignment with industry requirements;
  • Support procurement activity by preparing tender documentation, evaluating submissions, negotiating terms, and making recommendations;
  • Collaborate with engineering, planning, delivery, and commercial teams to ensure cost, programme, and project objectives remain aligned;
  • Identify commercial risks and opportunities, supporting mitigation plans, claims evidence, and dispute avoidance where required;
  • Provide guidance and technical support to Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors, helping develop capability across the team.
Who we're looking for
  • A Quantity Surveyor with a BSc/MSc in Quantity Surveying, equivalent experience or a relevant professional background;
  • Someone with demonstrable Quantity Surveying experience and the confidence to take on increasing autonomy and responsibility;

  • Knowledge of piling, geotechnical, civil engineering, or related infrastructure environments would be highly beneficial;
  • Strong experience producing commercial reports, CVRs, cost forecasts and supporting accurate financial management;
  • A commercially focused individual with a strong understanding of governance, delay, disruption, productivity and associated cost impacts;
