Job summary

The Lancaster Hospital, part of Circle Health Group, is seeking a Registered Nurse (Adult) to join the Surgical Wards on a bank basis. This role covers shifts as required to support busy periods and holiday leave.

You will deliver direct nursing care, assess needs, monitor vitals, administer medications, and maintain meticulous records in line with NMC standards. Strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (Adult) with valid NMC registration.
• Demonstrable experience in a clinical healthcare setting.
• Good understanding of clinical governance, patient safety, and evidence-based practice.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Proficient in IT systems used for patient records, documentation and care planning.
• Previous experience in a relevant specialty (surgical, medical, outpatient, orthopaedics, critical care) desirable.
• At least 2 years’ experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct nursing care in line with patient care plans and clinical protocols.
• Assess patient needs, prioritise care, and update care plans accordingly.
• Monitor vital signs, recognise changes in condition, and escalate as needed.
• Administer medications safely and in accordance with hospital policies and the NMC Code.
• Maintain accurate nursing documentation and care plans.
• Ensure care complies with NMC standards and hospital policies.
• Identify and report incidents and safeguarding concerns.
