Job summary

Circle Health Group, The Lancaster Hospital, is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Surgical Wards on a bank basis. The role involves providing direct patient care on an as-and-when-required basis across surgical wards at The Lancaster Hospital.

The ideal candidate will be an NMC-registered adult nurse with strong clinical governance knowledge, excellent communication, and the ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team. Prior surgical or orthopaedic experience is desirable.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (Adult) with valid NMC registration.
• Experience in a clinical healthcare setting.
• Good understanding of governance, patient safety and evidence-based practice.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Proficient in IT systems used for patient records and care planning.
• Desirable experience in a relevant specialty (surgical, medical, outpatient, orthopaedics, critical care).
• At least 2 years of nursing experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct nursing care in line with patient care plans and clinical protocols.
• Assess patient needs, prioritise care, and update care plans accordingly.
• Monitor vital signs and escalate changes using clinical judgement.
• Administer medications safely in line with hospital policies and NMC Code.
• Maintain accurate nursing documentation including assessments and observations.
• Ensure care complies with NMC standards and hospital policies.
• Identify and report incidents and safeguarding concerns as per procedures.

Salary: Up to £17.00 per hour (depending on level of experience, training and qualification)

Overview

We have an opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join their team of staff on our Surgical Wards.

This is a bank role working on an “as and when required” basis, you will be required to supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence.

Duties Of This Role Include

• Deliver direct nursing care in line with patient care plans and clinical protocols.
• Assess patient needs, prioritise care, and update care plans accordingly.
• Monitor vital signs, recognise changes in condition, and escalat[e] appropriately using clinical judgement.
• Administer medications safely and effectively in accordance with hospital policies and the NMC Code.
• Maintain accurate, legible, and timely nursing documentation, including assessments, care plans, and observations.
• Ensure that all care provided complies with NMC standards, clinical governance requirements, and hospital policies.
• Identify and report incidents, safeguarding concerns, and potential risks in line with hospital procedures.
