Job summary

Rhode Island Hospital, at Newport Hospital, seeks a Surgical Technologist to support the surgical team in a safe, efficient environment. You will assist the surgeon, maintain sterile technique, and prepare instruments and supplies for procedures across age groups.

You will work a Monday–Friday day shift, with 10-hour shifts, and must have the required CST/NCCT-TC or equivalent and 3 years of experience. BLS on hire is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program or equivalent.
• Current CST or NCCT-TC certification (military experience considered).
• Current BLS certification on hire is required.
• 3 years of experience as a surgical technologist preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists surgeon and prepares needles, sutures, drains, meds, and hemostatic agents.
• Maintains sterile field and asepsis per AORN standards.
• Anticipates team needs and organizes equipment and supplies.
• Demonstrates knowledge of OR setup and instrument management.
• Ensures safe patient movement and accurate instrument counts.
• Operates and maintains equipment including harmonic scalpel, lasers, suction, drills, and saws.
• Upholds professionalism and ongoing education.
