Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program.
• Graduate of an associate degree program in surgical technology.
• Current CST certification or NCCT-TC certification.
• 3 years of CST experience in the past 5 years.
• Complete Brown University Health on-the-job surgical technologist training.
• Complete CCRI certificate surgical technologist program.
• Current BLS Certification is required on hire.
• Ability to provide care to patients across the lifespan.

Responsibilities

• Functions in the surgical scrub role and assists the surgeon.
• Demonstrates knowledge of instrumentation and materials, such as sutures.
• Passes needles, sutures, drains, medications and hemostatic agents.
• Assists the surgeon and anticipates needs during procedures.
• Maintains sterile field setup and proper instrument handling.
• Optimizes OR time using physician preference cards and team communication.
• Maintains asepsis per AORN standards and sterile technique.
• Prepares and utilizes equipment (OR tables, harmonic scalpel, lasers, suction, etc.).
• Ensures safe environment for patients and staff; helps transfer patients.
