Job summary

Breedon Group is seeking four Surfacing Operatives for road surfacing and highway maintenance projects based in Inverness or Elgin. You will work outdoors, laying and finishing asphalt, travelling to multiple sites and supporting a skilled surfacing crew with safety and quality in mind.

The roles require flexibility with night shifts and full UK driving licences or CSCS desirable. Full training will be provided, with a focus on health and teamwork and long‑term career development within Breedon.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the laying, raking, levelling, and finishing of asphalt materials.
• Support the operation of surfacing plant, tools, and equipment.
• Carry out site preparation and general labouring duties before, during, and after surfacing works.
• Work closely with the Foreperson and wider surfacing squad to complete projects safely and efficiently.
• Conduct routine checks and basic maintenance of plant, equipment, and PPE.
• Follow site instructions, safe systems of work, and company procedures at all times.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Report any safety concerns, incidents, defects, or near misses promptly.
• Work flexibly across different sites and shifts, including night work where required

Position Overview

We are looking for four reliable and motivated Surfacing Operatives to join our growing surfacing team, based in Inverness or Elgin. These are hands-on roles supporting the delivery of road surfacing and highway maintenance projects across the region.

Working as part of a skilled surfacing crew, you will play a key role in laying and finishing asphalt safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality. You will work outdoors, travel to various sites, and contribute to the successful delivery of projects while maintaining a strong focus on health, safety, and teamwork.

These roles require flexibility, as nightshift working is essential.

Key Responsibilities
