Job summary

Morgan Hunt is seeking a Supported Housing Worker / Floating Support Worker to assist young people across Manchester and Greater Manchester in securing and maintaining housing. You’ll provide emotional support, advocacy across housing, healthcare and education, and collaborate with social services to ensure access to essential resources.

Travel across the region is required; safeguarding is paramount, and you’ll develop personalised support plans while maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

• Experience in housing-related support to help individuals secure and sustain accommodation.
• Experience supporting vulnerable young people, including unaccompanied asylum seekers or refugees.
• Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures to protect young people from harm.
• Experience handling crisis situations with de-escalation techniques and immediate support.
• Ability to collaborate with social services, healthcare providers, legal representatives and other agencies.
• Experience working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, including asylum-seeking contexts.
• Experience teaching or supporting young people to develop essential life skills (budgeting, cooking, managing a household).
• Experience advocating on behalf of young people to meet their housing, education and legal needs.
• Experience managing a caseload and maintaining individualised support plans and records.
• Familiarity with the asylum-seeking process and challenges faced by unaccompanied young people.
• Ability to work independently in the community and manage your own schedule.

Responsibilities

• Assist young people in securing and maintaining safe, stable, and appropriate housing within the community.
• Offer emotional support and guidance to help navigate independence, including cultural adjustment and trauma coping.
• Advocate for young people to uphold rights in housing, education, healthcare and legal matters.
• Support development of life skills such as budgeting, cooking, cleaning and household management.
• Work with social services, legal representatives, healthcare providers and educational institutions to access resources.
• Encourage participation in social, cultural and recreational activities to aid community integration.
• Provide immediate support and intervention in times of crisis to ensure safety and wellbeing.
• Monitor progress and maintain accurate records, reporting to relevant authorities as required.
• Follow safeguarding policies and procedures to protect young people from harm.
• Develop and implement individualised support plans based on the needs and goals of each young person.

£15.00 per hour + holiday pay

Temporary - 6 - 8 weeks to start ASAP

Morgan Hunt is working with a charity that provides support and accommodation to people who are homeless or at risk of losing their home across the North West. The Supported Housing Worker / Floating Support Worker will play a crucial role in assisting young people in securing and maintaining safe, stable housing while providing emotional support and guidance.

The role - Supported Housing Worker / Floating Support Worker

• Assist young people in securing and maintaining safe, stable, and appropriate housing within the community.
• Offer emotional support and guidance to help young people navigate the challenges of living independently, including cultural adjustment and coping with trauma.
• Act as an advocate for young people, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights are upheld in housing, education, healthcare, and legal matters.
• Support young people in developing essential life skills, such as budgeting, cooking, cleaning, and managing household responsibilities.
• Work closely with social services, legal representatives, healthcare providers, and educational institutions to ensure young people have access to the resources and support they need.
• Help young people integrate into their local communities by encouraging participation in social, cultural, and recreational activities.
• Provide immediate support and intervention in times of crisis, ensuring the safety and well-being of the young person.
• Regularly monitor the progress and well-being of young people, maintaining accurate records and reporting to relevant authorities as required.
• Ensure all safeguarding policies and procedures are followed to protect young people from harm.
• Develop and implement individualised support plans based on the unique needs and goals of each young person.

The candidate

• Proven experience in providing housing - related support, including helping individuals secure and maintain accommodation.
• Hands-on experience supporting vulnerable young people, particularly those who are unaccompanied asylum seekers or refugees.
• Practical experience in implementing safeguarding policies and procedures to protect young people from harm.
• Experience in handling crisis situations, including de - escalation techniques and providing immediate support.
• Experience working collaboratively with social services, healthcare providers, legal representatives, and other agencies.
• Practical experience working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, with an understanding of the challenges faced by asylum seekers.
• Experience in teaching or supporting young people to develop essential life skills, such as budgeting, cooking, and managing a household.
• Experience advocating on behalf of young people to ensure their needs are met in housing, education, and legal matters.
• Experience managing a caseload, including creating and maintaining individualised support plans and accurate records.
• Familiarity with the asylum - seeking process and the specific challenges faced by unaccompanied young people.
• Experience providing emotional and practical support to individuals who may have experienced trauma or loss.
• Proven ability to work independently in the community, managing your own schedule.

This role is an urgent requirement and requires a candidate that can start immediately, who has an Enhanced DBS on the update service and who has a car with business insurance (or is willing to get this).
