We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Support Worker who has experience working with young people aged 16–25, and who demonstrates empathy, patience, and dedication to providing exceptional support.
As a Support Worker, you will work as part of a team to create a safe and welcoming environment for young people within housing projects and the community.
Your role will involve helping young people navigate the housing pathway to improve their quality of life and independence.
DUTIES
Your responsibilities as a Support Worker will include:
- Supporting young people in housing and community settings to develop skills for independent living.
- Assisting the organization in providing support across various areas, including both accommodation and community-based work, helping those who are not housed to find and set up accommodation for independent living.
- Supporting young people through each stage of their journey with the organization, helping them progress along the housing pathway to achieve the five key outcomes: Being Healthy, Staying Safe, Enjoying and Achieving, Making a Positive Contribution, and Economic Well-being.
- Managing housing duties such as administration, rent collection, repairs, health and safety tasks, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for clients and staff.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to be innovative, take initiative, and plan your workload independently.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work in a stressful or hostile environment, demonstrating assertiveness and conflict resolution skills.
- Teamwork skills, including supervising others, openness, honesty, and receptiveness to constructive criticism.
- Good listening skills.
- Ability to empower and enable young people through your work.
- Commitment to equal opportunities and non-judgemental practice.
- Knowledge of support agencies and networks for young people aged 16–25.
- Ability to share knowledge effectively in one-to-one and group settings, both informally and formally.
- Proficiency in IT, including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- Must hold a Full Driver's Licence and have Access to a Vehicle.
