Job description

Support Worker - Waking Nights
Location: Williton / Taunton
Part time - 27 hours (10pm - 7am)
Week 1 - Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
Week 2 - Friday, Saturday, Sunday

About the role

At Sunnyside, you'll be part of a friendly and dedicated team supporting seven wonderful people (five men and two women, aged from their 40s to 70s) to live full and meaningful lives. While your role takes place overnight, you'll play a vital part in ensuring everyone feels safe, comfortable, and supported throughout the night.

You'll support people with a range of needs, including learning disabilities, autism, epilepsy, communication needs, and behaviours of distress. Some people require full personal care and mobility support, including the use of wheelchairs and hoists, while others may simply need reassurance, encouragement, or a helping hand during the night.

Your role will include:

  • Carrying out regular “keeping safe checks” to ensure everyone feels secure and comfortable.
  • Maintaining a clean, hygienic space so that the environment is welcoming and safe.
  • Recording important information using our easy-to-use IT systems – from support plans to health and safety logs – so we can provide the best care possible.
  • Creating a therapeutic, reassuring atmosphere that promotes wellbeing throughout the night.
  • Supporting people to enjoy their late evenings or nights in ways that matter to them.
  • Providing personal care when needed, always with dignity and respect.

About you

We’re looking for someone who brings compassion, reliability, and a genuine desire to make a difference. You’ll thrive in this role if you:

  • Care deeply about people and want to help create safe, positive nights for those who need support.
  • Value inclusion and respect, treating everyone with dignity and kindness.
  • Stay calm and reassuring, even when things feel challenging – your presence makes a difference.
  • Enjoy working independently but also feel part of a team that shares the same purpose.
  • Are comfortable using technology to keep accurate records and follow support plans.
  • Can provide personal care when needed, always with empathy and understanding.
  • Bring flexibility and reliability, knowing that your role is essential to someone’s wellbeing.
