Job summary

BBS Recruitment is recruiting a Support Worker for our client in Cockermouth, Cumbria (CA13). You will provide person-centred care to individuals with disabilities and support daily living activities, promoting dignity and independence.

This role involves working with multidisciplinary teams, maintaining records, safeguarding, and helping service users participate in community activities to improve wellbeing and independence.

Responsibilities

• Providing person-centred care and support to individuals with physical disabilities, learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions, epilepsy and complex needs.
• Assisting with personal care including washing, dressing, grooming and toileting while promoting dignity and independence.
• Supporting daily living activities such as meal preparation, household tasks and medication administration.
• Encouraging independence, choice and inclusion in daily life.
• Building positive relationships with service users, families and healthcare professionals.
• Assisting access to the community, appointments and social/recreational activities.
• Monitoring changes in wellbeing and completing care notes and records per policies.
• Providing emotional support and reassurance during anxiety, distress or challenging situations.
• Using positive behaviour support strategies to respond to behaviors that challenge.
• Assisting wheelchair users and those with mobility difficulties with moving and handling techniques.
• Promoting safeguarding, health and safety and maintaining confidentiality.
• Maintaining accurate medication records and supporting medication administration.
• Working with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality care and support.
• Encouraging participation in activities like shopping, day trips, exercise, arts and crafts, games and social events to enhance wellbeing.
