Job summary

Encompassborders in Bonchester Bridge is seeking a kind, patient support worker to assist an elderly client with daily living activities, personal care and medication within the home. The role involves up to 4 visits daily, including a bedtime shift with another carer, to support safety and comfort.

Experience in dementia care is desirable but not essential; the candidate should be reliable, discrete and capable of working closely with the family to maintain privacy and dignity at all times.

Responsibilities

• Support client to ensure safety and wellbeing by entering the property using a key safe if required.

• Develop a positive relationship with client and family; work with a family member when required but also independently.

Support Worker/Personal Assistant -Bonchester Bridge

A lovely elderly lady living at home in Bonchester Bridge, needs support of an experienced and patient support worker on a daily basis to enable her to live her daily life safely with dementia. The role would involve up to 4 visits a day to support the client with her personal care and medication, her loving husband and family support with meals and her needs at all other times of the day.

Terms:

• Hours per week: 7 hours per week Short term cover
• Hours of work: 1 hour Bed time visit working with a second carer
• £14.45 per hour.
• Paid annual leave entitlement of 5.6 weeks pro rata
• Probationary period of 6 months
• Post subject to references and PVG scheme membership

Main Tasks & Responsibilities

• To support a client to ensure their safety and well-being by entering the property using a key safe if required.
• To support with personal care needs, including
• Continence care
• Dressing
• Support with evening routine
• To support with medication administration by using a MAR chart to record medication given.
• To maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the client’s equipment and surroundings
• To develop a positive relationship with client and her family.
• To work alongside a family member when required but to work independently also.
