Responsibilities

Full-Time - Part-Time - Bank Staff Positions Available

PLEASE NOTE: Candidates MUST have a Full Driving Licence and their own Vehicle

SALARY: £14.00 per Hour Weekdays and £14.50 per Hour at Weekends + 40p per Mile

LOCATION: Successful candidates will work in one of the following areas that are closest to where the live:

  • Worthing and Littlehampton
  • Bongor and Chichester

JOB OVERVIEW

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who wants to make a positive difference to people’s lives while working as a Care Assistant / Support Worker in the local community.

As a Care Assistant / Support Worker, you will provide friendly, practical and personal support to service users, helping them live as independently as possible in their own homes.

The company is looking for a Care Assistant / Support Worker who has previous domiciliary care experience, with good medication handling, safeguarding and manual handling experience.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Care Assistant / Support Worker include:

  • Providing Personal Support: Assist service users with day-to-day care needs in a respectful, dignified and person-centred way
  • Supporting Independence: Help service users remain safe, comfortable and independent within their own homes
  • Offering Companionship: Provide friendly, reassuring support and social interaction during visits
  • Preparing Meals: Help with meal preparation, balanced diets and light household tasks where outlined in the care plan
  • Following Care Plans: Deliver support in line with care plans, risk assessments, training and company procedures
  • Handling Medication Safely: Support medication handling in line with care plans, training and company procedures
  • Noticing Changes: Recognise and report any changes in a service user’s condition, behaviour, mobility or circumstances
  • Maintaining Records: Complete accurate visit notes and report any concerns, refusals, cancellations or safeguarding matters to the office
  • Working Safely: Follow safeguarding, health and safety, manual handling, moving and positioning and infection control guidance at all times
  • Building Relationships: Communicate warmly and professionally with service users, families, colleagues and other people involved in their care
  • Travelling Between Visits: Work across your agreed area, travelling to service users in the community
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL
  • Previous experience in domiciliary care
  • Medication handling experience
  • Safeguarding experience
  • Manual handling experience
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
  • Good comprehension of the English language
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Able to show empathy, compassion and sensitivity when supporting service users
  • Able to work on your own initiative and as part of a team
  • Able to work alone in a community setting
  • Ability to recognise poor practice, hazards and changes in service users’ needs or circumstances
  • Understanding of safeguarding processes and the principles of empowerment
  • Able to carry out moving and positioning techniques following training
  • Accurate record keeping skills
  • Flexible, reliable and punctual approach
  • Must be able to work alternate weekends and some evenings
  • Able to provide a consistent availability pattern
  • Due to the nature of some personal care duties, female applicants are preferred where this is a genuine occupational requirement under the Equality Act 2010
DESIRABLE
  • QCF/NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care
  • Understanding of supporting people to fulfil their potential and live independently
  • Specialist training in areas such as diabetes, autism or learning disabilities
