Job summary

Believecare is seeking a Waking Night Support Worker on a 42-hour-per-week contract with a rotating schedule of three and four shifts. The role requires weekend and bank holiday availability and may involve sleep-ins and 12-hour shifts.

You will work within a bespoke team supporting a young person in his home, delivering person-centred care with empathy, patience, and flexibility. Training and DBS checks are part of the recruitment process, with safeguarding commitments throughout.

About You

In this role, you will provide support to individuals in various settings, focusing on empowering them to live fulfilling lives.

You will work closely with individuals, their social worker, and other allied professionals to deliver personalised support that addresses her specific needs. Your ability to follow instructions, work as part of a team, and maintain professional boundarieswill be crucial in providing high-quality, person-centred care.

Understanding the significance of fostering trust and meaningful relationships, actively listening, and being flexible in your approach will be essential. Whether through one-on-one support, encouraging independence, or advocating for individuals with learning disabilities and mental health needs, your dedication will leave a lasting impact.

You will need to be flexible in working various shift patterns, including evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays. Sleep-ins and or waking nights may also be required as part of the role to ensure continuous support in our care.

You will part of a bespoke team supporting a young person within his own home. You will support him as part of a team that works together in ways that are led by the individuals needs.

Paul is a calm and thoughtful young person who responds best to individuals who are observant, patient, and creativein their approach. It's important that you are able to read and respond to non-verbal cues—such as body language, facial expressions, or changes in behaviour. Paul has a strong love for books and enjoys when staff share their own passions, even if he prefers to listen rather than join in. He finds comfort in outdoor activities and familiar local places, and with the right support, he’s open to exploring new experiences. This involves introducing new activities gradually, breaking them down into bite - sized steps, allowing time for reflection, asking questions, and offering gentle encouragement without pressure. An understanding of learning disabilities and autism is beneficial, though full training and support will be provided. You’ll be part of a wider, supportive team, helping Paul achieve his personal goals at a pace that works for him.

This role requires empathy, compassion, resilience, problem-solving skills, respect for professional boundaries, and a commitment to improving the livesof people we support. Most importantly, a genuine passionfor working with and supporting people is essential, along with a desire to be an advocate for individuals with learning difficulties and mental health support needs.

Responsibilities will include assisting with daily tasks, offering emotional support, and managing challenging behaviours when necessary. You will empower the individuals to develop life skills, make informed decisions, and build confidence in their independence. This includes support with budgeting, promoting self-care, and serving as a trusted advocate for their needs and aspirations.
