Job summary

Select Lifestyles in the West Midlands is seeking a caring Support Worker to assist adults with learning disabilities. You will support daily living, accompany clients to activities, and help maintain independence with dignity and choice.

The role requires compassion, reliability, and good teamwork, with full UK driving licence and willingness to train. DBS enhanced check and references are part of safer recruitment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in care settings is preferred.
  • Full UK Driving Licence is required.
  • Flexibility to work across shifts including weekends and bank holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Support Service Users with daily living tasks to promote independence.
  • Assist with meals, personal care, budgeting, and community activities.
  • Follow personalised support plans and document progress.
  • Maintain accurate records: daily notes, MARs, incident reports.
  • Collaborate with families, teams, and external professionals.

Job Description

As a Support Worker, you will bring compassion, motivation, and reliability to our dedicated care team. In this rewarding and impactful role, you will play a vital part in delivering person-centred support to adults with learning disabilities and complex needs, empowering them to lead independent, fulfilling lives.

This role involves supporting Service Users with daily living tasks and accompanying them to planned activities, appointments, and social outings; all with the aim of promoting independence, dignity, and choice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting Service Users with everyday tasks:
    • Domestic chores (e.g. cleaning, laundry)
    • Meal preparation
    • Personal care
    • Budgeting and money management
    • Engaging with the local community and accessing amenities
  • Following and implementing personalised support plans to help individuals achieve their goals and aspirations
  • Delivering high-quality, person-centred care
  • Work collaboratively with families, in-house teams, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for each Service User
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed records, including:
    • Daily notes
    • Medication administration records
    • Incident and accident reports
  • A compassionate, empathetic, and respectful approach to care
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays
  • Willingness to learn and undertake full training
  • Full UK Driving Licence
