Job Description:

We are Hestia. We make a difference.

At Hestia, we are guided by our core values and are dedicated to fostering an equitable, diverse, and inclusive organisation. Our mission is to empower individuals to rebuild their lives and achieve independence. Right now, we are looking for a Support Worker to play a pivotal role in our Complex Needs Service in Croydon

Sounds great, what will I be doing?

This position involves empowering a caseload of service users to manage their health, wellbeing, and independence through flexible, person-centred support. Working as part of a team on a rota covering 8am–10pm, seven days a week, you will monitor mental health, housing stability, and living conditions, while facilitating engagement with external professionals such as social workers, mental health teams, and housing providers. The role includes co-producing group activities and support networks, encouraging community engagement, and fostering independent living skills. You will assist in timely referrals, assessments, tenancy support, and move-on planning, ensuring that service users can progress confidently toward independence. Additionally, you will contribute to service delivery through record keeping, administration, property upkeep, and supporting the health, safety, and smooth operation of the service.

What do I need to bring with me?

You'll need to be able to demonstrate the core skills this role requires as well as match our values and mission. You don't have to tickallthe boxes right away; the important thing is that you're willing to learn. We also value lived experience of the areas we support, so if you feel comfortable, please do mention this on your application.

Here's what the team will be looking for

To succeed in this role, candidates should bring experience working with individuals facing mental health and/or dual diagnosis challenges, either in a paid or voluntary capacity. They must demonstrate the ability to learn quickly, process and record detailed information accurately, and share it appropriately within confidentiality guidelines. Strong decision-making skills, a calm and non-judgmental approach, and the ability to manage challenging behaviours and de-escalate tense situations are essential. A solution-focused mindset, optimism about clients' potential for change, and a collaborative, anti-discriminatory approach are key qualities. Candidates should also be prepared to work in a dynamic, sometimes high-pressure environment, with a flexible attitude toward working early, late, and occasional weekend shifts. A solid understanding of safeguarding practices and how to respond to related concerns is also required.
