Job summary

Pharmacyupdate is seeking a confident and proactive Residential Care Support Worker to join an established care team in Forest Gate, East London. You will support adults with learning disabilities, promote independence and participate in community activities including outings and trips.

The role emphasizes guiding residents toward greater independence, maintaining daily routines, and collaborating with colleagues to ensure high-quality person-centred care in a busy residential setting.

Qualifications

• Full UK manual driving license is essential.
• Experience supporting adults with learning disabilities is desirable.
• Strong understanding of person-centred care and promoting independence.
• Proactive approach with initiative to make decisions.
• Excellent communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
• Positive and enthusiastic attitude towards community activities.
• Flexible to work the required shift pattern.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, person-centred support to adults with learning disabilities and behaviours that may challenge.
• Promote independence, choice and dignity, helping residents develop daily living skills.
• Support residents with personal care and daily routines toward individual goals.
• Plan, organise and participate in community activities and outings.
• Drive the organisation's minibus to transport residents to activities and outings.
• Guide, advise and support colleagues when needed.
• Encourage positive behaviour and use appropriate strategies for complex needs.
• Follow individual care plans, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures.
• Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with staff and management.
