Job description

Support Worker - Exeter

Sense is looking for Support Workers to join our service in Exeter, working 37.5 hours per week for £12.25 per hour (including allowances).

This challenging yet rewarding role involves providing outstanding care and support to individuals with learning disabilities, sensory impairments, communication difficulties, and challenging behaviors. You will be part of an award-winning team, with opportunities for personal and professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge.

The individuals we support are unique, and you will support them in various interests such as sports, musicals, festivals, and community activities. The role operates on a rolling 4-week rota with day and afternoon shifts, including every other weekend.

We’re looking for enthusiastic applicants who are:
  • Positive, with a can-do attitude
  • Caring and empathetic
  • Passionate about improving others' lives
  • Willing to work towards or already hold a Level 2 Diploma in health and social care or equivalent
  • Some experience with adults with learning disabilities, deafblindness, and challenging behaviors
  • Possibly some BSL skills

A full UK Driver's License is desirable for this role.

At Sense, we support people with complex disabilities to live independently and as fully as possible. Your role will be empowering the individuals you support to achieve their goals.

What to expect

In addition to support from management, you'll be paired with a 'Buddy' for peer support, and you'll have access to training and qualifications to support your development.
