Homes for Support is recruiting Casual, Bank and Sessional Residential Children’s Support Workers to provide flexible cover across our children’s homes.

This is ideal alongside another role, study, family commitments, your own interests or a busy personal life. You tell us when you are available, and we will offer shifts that fit where possible.

You will support children and young people aged 5-18 in our residential childcare homes, including established two-to-six-bed residential children's homes and our developing specialist complex-care provision.

What you’ll do

  • Support routines, meals, activities, education and appointments.
  • Build positive, professional relationships with children.
  • Support children during emotional distress and challenging moments.
  • Follow care plans, risk assessments and safeguarding procedures.
  • Complete clear, factual records and handovers.
  • Work calmly and consistently as part of the home’s team.
Who we’re looking for

You may already work in care, education, youth work or another people-focused role. Previous children’s-home experience is welcome, but the most important qualities are warmth, reliability, resilience and a willingness to learn.

You will need to be:

  • Available to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends and school holidays where possible.
  • Calm, patient and professional under pressure.
  • Comfortable maintaining safe boundaries.
  • Able to follow plans and work well with different teams.
  • Confident with written records and safeguarding responsibilities.
  • A full UK driving licence holder.
Why join Homes for Support?
  • Flexible work that can fit around your existing commitments.
  • Competitive hourly pay of £13.95.
  • The chance to gain or build valuable residential childcare experience.
  • Full induction, training and support before working independently.
  • A friendly, therapeutic and child-centred team environment.
  • Access to our 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme from day one for you and eligible adults in your household.
  • Opportunities to move into regular contracted hours as the service grows.

Every shift is an opportunity to provide safety, consistency and a positive experience for a child who needs it.
