Job summary

Dimensions Cymru Limited in Cardiff is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to assist a woman living in her own home, helping her to live the life she chooses with dignity and independence.

You will provide hands-on support with daily living tasks, including personal care, meals, and safe home management, while respecting her communication style and preferences. The role includes varied shifts and regular outings.

Qualifications

• No prior care experience required; the right values matter: kindness, patience, reliability and a passion for helping others.
• You will be a great team player, build meaningful relationships, and support a person to be as independent as possible.
• You should be calm, adaptable, and able to use your initiative, especially when communicating with the person supported and families.
• Basic IT skills are required to use digital systems for training and recording notes.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated support to a woman living in her own home in Rumney, Cardiff, helping her live the life she chooses at home and on outings.
• Deliver personal care, medication support, meal preparation, and help create a safe, comfortable home environment.
• Understand her preferred way of communicating to ensure she feels valued and heard.
• Join activities from cinema visits to meals out and holidays, assisting with longer outings where a wheelchair is needed.
• Role includes short days, long day shifts, sleep-ins and alternate weekends with starts from 8am.

About the role

You'll provide dedicated support to a wonderful woman living in her own home in Rumney, Cardiff. This is a varied, rewarding role where you'll play an important part in helping her live the life she chooses, supporting her both at home and out enjoying the activities she loves most.

You'll take the time to understand her unique way of communicating, enabling her to express her choices, preferences, and personality while ensuring she feels valued, listened to, and supported.

From trips to the cinema, enjoying playing music, sensory activities, meals out, and even holidays, you'll be actively involved in helping her make the most of every opportunity. She enjoys being out and about, so we're looking for someone who is enthusiastic, energetic, and keen to get involved. For longer outings, she may use a wheelchair, so you'll be comfortable providing practical support when needed.

This role includes short days, long day shifts, sleep-ins, and alternate weekends, with shifts starting from 8am.
