Job summary

Dimensions is seeking a Female Support Worker in Basildon, Essex (SS16) to provide care for a woman in her early 60s. This part-time role offers 22.5 hours weekly, with shifts from early morning to evenings and alternate weekends. Training and support for Positive Behaviour Support will be provided.

You will work with a close-knit team to promote independence, wellbeing and meaningful activities in the client’s home. Some duties include meal planning, mobility support, and community access.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting people with autism, learning disabilities or behaviours of distress.
• 2:1 support with ability to build trusting relationships.
• Reliable, compassionate and proactive in promoting independence.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent, skilled support during distress behaviours.
• Help develop and maintain everyday living skills for the person.
• Assist with meal planning, cooking, medication administration and healthcare appointments.
• Maintain structured routines to promote wellbeing and manage transitions.
• Support mobility when accessing the community and use of mobility equipment if needed.

About the role

The current payrate of £14.01 per hour will be increasing to £14.59 on 1st October 2026.

We are looking for female Support Workers to join our team in Basildon, supporting a woman in her early 60s to live the life she chooses in her own bungalow. This is a part time opportunity offering 22.5 hours per week, ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting people to achieve great outcomes and who has experience supporting people with autism, learning disabilities, or behaviours of distress.

The lady you will be supporting has worked incredibly hard to develop her independence and enjoys having choice and control over her daily life. She requires 2:1 support and benefits from consistent, proactive support from people who can build trusting relationships and recognise every opportunity to promote independence, confidence, and wellbeing. You'll be fully supported through Dimensions' training, Positive Behaviour Support approaches, clear support protocols, and by an experienced, long-standing team.

No two days are the same, but you'll spend your time supporting her to take part in the hobbies and experiences that are important to her. She loves anything pink, sparkly or fluffy, enjoys arts and crafts, taking photographs, keeping in touch with family and friends via FaceTime, going to Toby Carvey on a sunday to meet with her friends, and going out shopping.

What will you be doing?

• Providing consistent, skilled and reassuring support when experiencing behaviours of distress.
• Encouraging and supporting her to develop and maintain everyday living skills.
• Supporting with meal planning, cooking, medication administration and healthcare appointments.
• Maintaining structured, positive routines that promote wellbeing and help manage changes or transitions.
• Supporting with mobility when accessing the community, including the use of mobility equipment when required.
• Building and maintaining meaningful relationships with family members, friends and the local community.
• Supporting her to access social, leisure and community-based activities that are important to her.

Shifts are typically: 7.00am to 2.30pm, 2.30pm to 10.00pm. There are no long days. You will be expected to work alternate weekends, sleep-in shifts, and occasional waking nights when required.

Free parking is available directly outside the bungalow. The home is conveniently located for candidates travelling from Southend, Wickford, Pitsea, Laindon, Billericay, Stanford-le-Hope and surrounding areas.
