Job summary

Apex Recruit Ltd is seeking a friendly and reliable Support Worker to assist younger adults with learning disabilities and autism in a small residential service in Forest Gate, London. You will help residents with daily routines, accompany them on community activities and manage appointments, shopping and days out.

Driving is essential; a full UK license with confident manual driving is required. Prior care experience is beneficial and the role offers temp, temp-to-perm or permanent options.

Support Worker - Learning Disabilities & Autism

Driving licence required - must be confident driving a manual vehicle

Temporary, Temp to Perm or permanent

Apex Recruit is looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and reliable Support Worker to work within a small residential service supporting younger adults with learning disabilities and autism.

This is a lovely role for someone who enjoys getting involved, building relationships and helping people live as independently and actively as possible. The service supports a small number of residents and has access to transport for community activities.

This isn't a role where you'll be sitting around all day — you could be supporting residents with their daily routines, heading out into the community, going shopping, attending appointments or enjoying days out and activities.

The role will include:

• Supporting residents with day-to-day living
• Encouraging independence, confidence and choice
• Supporting with activities and hobbies
• Taking residents out into the community
• Accompanying residents to GP, hospital or other appointments
• Supporting with shopping, social activities and days out
• Providing emotional and practical support
• Completing care notes and handovers
• Working closely with the permanent care team

Driving is essential

You must hold a full UK driving licence and be able to confidently drive a manual vehicle.

Driving forms part of the role from time to time, as you may be required to take residents to appointments, activities and days out in the community.
