Job summary

CYGNET in Blackburn is seeking confident Care & Support Workers to assist d/Deaf service users with mental health needs in a new Deaf community step-down setting. You will work full time on a mixed pattern of 3/4 twelve-hour shifts weekly, with training available to achieve BSL Level 2 if needed.

Experience with Deaf communities is valued; you may be d/Deaf yourself. The role offers ongoing development, DBS checks, and a supportive MDT environment within a national provider.

Qualifications

  • Must be fluent in or have Level 2 BSL for deaf services.
  • Experience living with or working with Deaf people is advantageous.
  • Willing to gain Signature BSL Level 2 accreditation if not already held.

Responsibilities

  • Provide enhanced care with a flexible learning approach for all service users.
  • Offer guidance and encouragement through physical and emotional support.
  • Learn about individuals’ specific needs and provide help in the most appropriate way.
  • Assist with medical and welfare needs.
  • Report on medical and welfare needs as required.
  • Safeguard service users.
  • Maintain a safe, clean environment for all.

For accessible applications or adjustments please contact: LouisBrown@Cygnethealth.co.ukWe have fantastic new opportunities to join us and support our d/Deaf service users in Blackburn.We are looking for confident Care & Support Workers with the passion to both deliver outstanding care, alongside play a role in empowering d/Deaf service users to access the same recovery opportunities as their hearing peers.Note: We are also able to offer BSL Signature Level 2 training within our nearby Bury Dunes Hospital for candidates who are passionate about building a career within our d/Deaf services.You will be working Full time (42 hours per week) across a mixed shift pattern of 3/4 12 hour shifts per week with a focus on supporting our d/Deaf (profound, severe, partial or hard of hearing) service users with mental health needs, inside our new Deaf community step down setting in Blackburn.About the service:Vincent Court is a five-bed community rehabilitation (level 1) service for deaf men who have been able to progress through the hospital pathway at Cygnet Bury Dunes (Bridgehampton Ward).We also accept referrals from other high support inpatient rehabilitation (level 2) services, other Low Secure services as well as directly from the community.We offer a safe, comfortable and homely setting that enables individuals to focus on their continued recovery and transition back into a successful and more independent lifestyle – with the advantage of continuing to access the same multi-disciplinary team (MDT) at Cygnet Bury Dunes (Bridgehampton Ward).About you:You may be d/Deaf yourself.Have experience working or living with Deaf people before.You can sign in BSLQualified in Signature BSL to a minimum of Level 2 or willing to gain this accreditation through us.As a person you are a strong worker and team player.Are looking to help support d/Deaf people.Have an interest in helping d/Deaf people with mental health problems.Your day-to-day…Offer enhanced care with a flexible learning approach for all the people in our careProvide guidance & encouragement through physical & emotional supportLearn about individuals’ specific needs & provide help in the most appropriate wayAssist with medical & welfare needsReport on medical & welfare needs as requiredSafeguardMaintain a safe, clean environment for allWhy Cygnet?
