About The Role

We are recruiting Care / Support Workers for our Children's service in Walsall.

About you

We are looking for Children’s Residential Support Workers to join our team who have a passion for providing a high standard of support that enables young people to learn and develop through education and positive life experiences, stay healthy and most importantly, have a fun, fulfilling life.

For Support Worker positions although an understanding of the role is desirable, it is not essential as training will be provided.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience working with children
  • Ability to drive
  • Knowledge of childcare practices
  • Familiarity with creating and implementing care plans
  • Basic IT skills

The role

  • This role includes aspects of challenging behaviours with our residents.
  • You will provide practical assistance and emotional support to empower our young people to achieve their goals and aspirations, respecting everyone’s individuality and enabling them to make appropriate choices to live the life they wish, in line with their individual support plans. You will need to be able to complete a range of records and documents.
  • Facilitating social, educational and play or recreational activities of their choice. Supporting them to maintain contact with families or significant others is a key priority.
  • The role requires you to undertake all aspects of day to day household tasks such as cleaning, cooking and shopping. Our young people also need to be supported to manage their personal care and hygiene.

About The Service

Bluebell House is a new children’s home in Walsall, which provides support for 6 children with a learning disability and/or physical disability.

The home has a multitude of breakout spaces, including 2 activity rooms, a sensory room and two lounge spaces for if the children choose to have time alone. All bedrooms have en-suites and bedrooms are personalized and decorated with the children’s voice being the centre on these decisions, upon admission.

Our aim is to ensure the children we will support will have their voice heard and acted upon, to enable them to live their best potential and outcomes.
