Job description

Are you passionate about making a positive difference in people’s lives?

We are seeking a compassionate, motivated, and reliable Support Worker to join our dedicated team. Watson Road is a 4-bed mental health supported living accommodation, offering a 24-hour service. We also offer outreach support with tenants in the community in independent flats.

About the Role

You’ll be supporting service users both in their accommodation and in the community to overcome issues in their daily lives impacting negatively on their mental health and wellbeing.

You’ll support service users to identify barriers / challenges that are stopping them from living as independently as possible by utilising a strengths-based approach, developing a support plan to enable service users to achieve their goals.

As a Support Worker no two days are the same, some of the tasks you may expect to be doing include:

  • Supporting service users in their daily lives
  • Maintaining accurate support records
  • Helping service users to manage their finances
  • Follow care plans and risk assessments
  • Providing flexible, long-term support to enable service users to increase independence and overcome social, practical, financial, and emotional difficulties
  • Supporting service users to develop coping strategies to manage periods of problematic mental health.
  • Assisting the service user to overcome challenges in their lives including housing, finances, welfare benefits, medication, engaging in the wider community and all aspects of daily living.
  • Promoting social inclusion and participation in the life of the city by developing and maintaining links with agencies beyond health and social care and by introducing activities, community resources and sometimes creative sources of support.

About You

You will have a genuine passion for supporting people with mental health needs alongside your strong communication and interpersonal skills. You will be committed to maintaining confidentiality and respecting the dignity of service users. Any previous experience in mental health support is desirable, although full training will be provided.

The project works on a 24-hour shift pattern, 2pm-10pm, Sleep Ins, 7am-2pm. In the community shifts are 9am-5pm during weekdays and 9am-4pm at the weekend. Shifts are on a rota basis in advance to ensure a positive work life balance.

If you are compassionate, resilient, and ready to make a real impact, we’d love to hear from you!

All correspondence will be via your registered email address.

You will need to attach a CV in order to apply for this role.
