Job summary

MacIntyre is recruiting a dedicated Support Worker for our Wingrave children’s homes. You’ll provide person-centred support to young people with autism and learning disabilities in a rural setting, focusing on routine, independence and dignity.

No prior social care experience is required; we hire for values and train for skills. A full manual UK driving licence is essential to support activities and transport the young people in the community.

We are looking for people who bring that kind of quiet, genuine empathy to work with them every day. Whether you come from a background in hospitality, retail, customer service, or have personal experience caring for a loved one, your transferable skills are exactly what we need to make a difference.

No two days are quite the same, but your core purpose remains constant: delivering young person-centred support that champions choice and independence.

• Great Interactions: You will work closely with the young people, supporting their morning routines, helping them manage their personal care with dignity, and using creative communication tools to ensure their voices are always heard.
• Community and Fun: You will help plan holiday, vocational, and social activities. You will be out and about, driving our vehicles to take young people into the community, helping them try new experiences at their own pace.
• Tracking Growth: Working alongside our Registered Managers and Deputy Managers, therapeutic teams, and families, you will help implement learning and behaviour support plans, celebrating the progress that means the world to our young people.

Shift Patterns:

To provide the stability our young people need, we work on a flexible, young person-centred rota:

• Early shifts: 7:00 am – 2:00/3:00 pm
• Late shifts: 2:00/3:00 pm – 10:00 pm
• You will work a mix of these shifts, including every other weekend, with fixed weekdays off to keep your work-life balance in check.

Welcome to our Wingrave community

We have four modern houses within our school campus, situated right next to the heart of the village of Wingrave. Each house is a real home, accommodating up to five young people in their own bedrooms, which are decorated and equipped to match their individual tastes.

Because our homes are registered in pairs, you will work across two houses, supporting up to ten young people in total. You will never be doing this alone; you will be backed by a large, collaborative staff team and experienced home managers who are there to guide and support you every step of the way.

We celebrate the successes and personal gifts of each child, and we want our team to be truly aspirational for the young people we support. When faced with new challenges, we work together to ensure our homes remain a positive, deeply supportive, and rewarding place to come to work.
