Job summary

MacIntyre is hiring a Support Worker in Milton Keynes to join the Lifelong Learning team. You will support adults with learning disabilities and/or autism to discover talents, gain independence, and feel supported in daily life.

You’ll help individuals learn new skills, participate in activities, and provide personal care with respect and dignity, promoting choice and independence in a person-centred manner.

Qualifications

  • Warmth and enthusiasm to engage with adults with learning disabilities/autism.
  • No prior experience needed; transferable skills welcome and training provided.
  • Driving licence (UK manual) is essential to transport individuals between sites and activities.
  • Willingness to complete the Personal Development Portfolio during probation (6 months).

Responsibilities

  • Build meaningful relationships with people you support and help them learn new skills.
  • Facilitate participation in local activities, hobbies, and social trips.
  • Provide personal care and support with daily living while promoting dignity and independence.

As a Support Worker, your support genuinely changes lives. You’ll build meaningful relationships with the people you support, helping them learn new skills, explore hobbies, participate in local activities and providing the personal care and support they need to feel comfortable, confident and in control of their day. You’ll bring your own passions and interests to inspire others, while providing respectful, person-centred care that promotes dignity, choice and independence.

  • Vibrant Work Environments: Work across three dynamic Lifelong Learning sites in Milton Keynes as well as out in the vibrant local community.
  • Meaningful, Engaging Activities: Support individuals to take part in cooking, arts & crafts, sports, music, vocational learning, and social trips.
  • Educational Impact: Actively participate in assessing, designing, and implementing individualised person-centred learning programmes tailored to each person's unique goals.
  • Personal Care and Well-being: Personal care is an important part of this role. Provide respectful, dignified support with personal care, hygiene and physical well-being, taking the time to understand each person’s preferences and promoting their choice, comfort and independence at all times.
