If you’ve ever looked at your own life skills and thought, "I’d be good at supporting young people," you probably would be.
Support Worker - Children’s Homes
Requirements: A driving license is welcome but not essential. If you do drive, we have both manual and automatic vehicles, and we'll plan rotas around who drives and who doesn't.
Experience: Not required, we hire for values and train for skills.
You know how to stay calm when things feel overwhelming. You understand the power of routine, the necessity of patience, and the joy of celebrating small steps forward that others might completely miss. You know that the right support changes everything.
At MacIntyre, we support young people with autism and learning disabilities across our modern, welcoming children’s homes in the rural village of Wingrave. We are looking for people who bring that kind of quiet, genuine empathy to work with them every day. Whether you come from a background in hospitality, retail, customer service, or have personal experience caring for a loved one, your transferable skills are exactly what we need to make a difference.
No two days are quite the same, but your core purpose remains constant: delivering young person-centred support that champions choice and independence.
"One young person joined our home feeling incredibly anxious and bound by strict routines. With consistent, patient support from our team, they gradually built the confidence to manage everyday situations independently and form meaningful friendships." (MacIntyre Team Member)

You don’t need a background in social care to thrive here. We hire based on your core values. If you are naturally positive, a great role model, strictly professional regarding boundaries and confidentiality, and genuinely passionate about social inclusion, you are exactly who we are looking for.
Shift Patterns:
To provide the stability our young people need, we work on a flexible, young person-centred rota.
Our homes run seven days a week, and we offer a variety of shifts, including early shifts (around 7am-2/3pm), late shifts (around 2/3pm-10pm) and alternating weekends. We're happy to talk about the pattern that suits you at interview, including part-time hours. Overtime is available if you want it, but it's never ecpected.
We have four modern houses within our school campus, situated right next to the heart of the village of Wingrave. Each house is a real home, accommodating up to five young people in their own bedrooms, which are decorated and equipped to match their individual tastes.
Because our homes are registered in pairs, you will work across two houses, supporting up to ten young people in total. You will never be doing this alone; you will be backed by a large, collaborative staff team and experienced home managers who are there to guide and support you every step of the way.
We celebrate the successes and personal gifts of each child, and we want our team to be truly aspirational for the young people we support. When faced with new challenges, we work together to ensure our homes remain a positive, deeply supportive, and rewarding place to come to work.
Wherever you're starting from, we'll help you succeed.
Alongside your salary, you'll enjoy a range of benefits including:

Keeping young people safe is at the heart of everything we do, so we follow safer recruitment practices. To avoid delays later on, please make sure your CV includes your full employment history going back to school, with any gaps explained. After shortlisting, we’ll tell you which ID and documents to bring to your interview.
Please note: we do not offer Skilled Worker visa sponsorship. You must already have the right to work in the UK.
