Job summary

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council is seeking a supportive and compassionate individual to join our team as a Support Worker, helping adults with learning disabilities access a range of engaging activities in a day service setting.

You will support individuals in the building and in the community, including cooking, arts, sports, music, computer skills and more, building confidence, recording progress, and working as part of a friendly team.

Qualifications

  • Experience in social care settings is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with colleagues and service users.
  • Willingness to work as part of a team and follow support plans.
  • Understanding of learning disabilities and person-centred approaches.

Responsibilities

  • Support adults with learning disabilities to take part in activities in the day service and in the community.
  • Assist with a wide range of activities such as cooking, arts, sports, music and computer skills.

About the role

The service is responsible for supporting adults with learning disabilities to access activities that are engaging and developmental within a day service setting.

In the role of support worker, you will be expected to support adults with learning disabilities to take part in a wide range of activities based within the building and in the community. These activities include:

  • Cooking
  • Arts & crafts
  • Sports & games
  • Music
  • Computer skills
  • Newsletters
  • Swimming & gym
  • Plus much more!
About you

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has a caring, positive and person-centred approach to supporting others.
  • Has experience in supporting people in social care settings.
  • Has good communication skills and enjoys working as part of a team.
  • Is reliable, flexible and able to use their initiative.
  • Can maintain accurate records and follow support plans.
  • Understands supporting adults with learning disabilities.
  • Ideally has Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
