Job summary

McFarlane Trust Ltd is seeking a Support Worker to join their care team in the Paisley area. The role covers 28 hours per week on a 7-day shift rota, with a Health & Social Care background preferred.

You will support individuals with complex needs to live fulfilling lives in their local community. Key duties include providing physical and emotional support, assisting with personal care when required, and helping service users develop skills and independence.

Job description

Are you looking for a career in care, or already have experience but want to develop further? We have a Support Worker vacancy where you will be required to work 28 hours over 7 days on a shift rota basis. Ideally, you should have a Health and Social Care background and have experience of working with people with complex learning disabilites. You will be expected to create environments where the people we support can develop interests, skills, and relationships to enable them to live fulfilling lives in their local community. The job is hard work but extremely rewarding.

Responsibilities/day to day duties:
  • Work with our people to create a friendly and happy environment
  • Provide physical & emotional support
  • Understand the individual needs and offer guidance
  • Encourage and help develop skills
  • Assist with medical & welfare needs
  • Provide personal care if required
  • Attend reviews to discuss health and well being
  • Accompany individuals on outings
  • Liaise with relatives and staff members
  • Maintain a safe and clean place to live
Requirements:
  • Willing to undertake SVQ qualification and attend all training
  • Able to show compassion, dignity and respect
  • Understand and consider the needs of others
  • Must be a good listener
  • Be an excellent communicator - written and oral
  • Experience of working with people with complex learning disabilities would be an advantage however not essential, as we offer excellent Induction and on-going training for all staff
  • Ideally have SVQ level 2 in Health & Social Care
  • A driving licence would also be desirable

Successful Support Workers will benefit from the following;

  • A pay rate of at least *£13.45 p/hr, increasing to at least £114.56 p/hr after 3 years' service. *(starting rate is negotiable dependent on experience)
  • 4 weeks annual leave entitlement increasing to 5 weeks after 10 yrs service.
  • 12 days paid public holidays (based on a 38 hr working week)
  • 5% Employer Pension Contribution on your full basic salary.

  • Enhanced sick pay of 4 weeks full and 4 weeks half pay.
