Cygnet Hospital Maidstone is seeking a full-time support worker to assist the nursing team with admission, assessment, treatment and discharge of inpatients, focusing on dignity and safety.

You will support treatments, observe patients, meet physical and emotional needs, provide group or individual activities, and maintain a safe environment. Induction and training are provided. The role requires visa eligibility; sponsorship is not offered.

Competenze

• DBS check (enhanced) required.
• At least 12 months remaining on current visa.

This full-time support worker post sits within the nursing team at Cygnet Hospital Maidstone, a 64-bed adult mental health hospital. The work centres on supporting qualified nurses through the admission, assessment, treatment and discharge of inpatients, including safe observations and daily care. The post runs 38.5 hours a week on a rota covering days, nights and weekends, with full induction and training provided. Visa sponsorship is not offered, and applicants need at least 12 months left on their current visa.

What the job involves

• Complement and support qualified nurses in the admission, assessment, treatment and discharge of inpatients, with a focus on dignity and safety
• Support the implementation of treatments and therapy in line with service users' care plans, as part of the multidisciplinary team
• Carry out safe observations of patients, sometimes 1:1 or alongside other staff
• Meet the physical and emotional needs of service users in a caring and empathic manner
• Provide and support individual or group work to maintain physical and mental wellbeing
• Maintain a safe, clean and enjoyable environment for patients and staff
• Work within safeguarding guidelines
• Complete training in de-escalation and PMVA techniques to support patients showing potentially violent or aggressive behaviour
