Support Worker: Sudbury (Great Cornard area)

Salary: £14 per hour

Hours: Full Time & Part Time

Holidays: 33 days per year (pro rata)

Full driving licence preferred for this role

  • Industry and bespoke training plan – tailored to meet the needs of the individuals you support (including PBS)
  • Full Support and Supervision
  • Rewarding opportunity to make a real difference to an individual’s life
  • Working for an outstanding CQC rated provider
  • Employee Assistance and Discount Scheme
  • Earn a Friend Scheme (£500 per person)

CJP provide support services to people who may have a complex support need, which may involve behaviours that may challenge, we have been established since 2007, and we operate with an Outstanding rating from CQC.

We have supported and developed services that support individuals and treat them as individuals, understanding some of the challenges that the people we support may face, and working to build teams that can work in a consistent way that reduces behaviours of concern and looks to develop individuals to support the reduced need for support.

We are really excited to be providing supported living in the Sudbury area with a newly bespoke service, and we are starting the recruitment process to build a team for the first person who we are looking to transition in late September 2025

We have a fantastic opportunity to work with an amazing individual who is genuinely a joy to work with, and who with the right support can lead a very meaningful life.

  • J is a young man who loves humour, laughter and comedy is usually the key dealing with any possible challenges
  • J loves going to the beach and open spaces, but sometimes the motivation to get there can be a challenge, so a positive low arousal approach is essential, he can also enjoy himself so much that he doesn’t want to come home, so patience and an understanding of what he likes can also be very helpful
  • J has PBS led approach, so positive interaction and reducing behaviours is a key approach that we use.
  • J can get bored, and boredom can be a key trigger to some of the behaviours of concern, so motivation to keep J active is crucial, this can be motivation within his house, or external activities, or a good combination of both
  • J can on occasions demonstrate behaviours that challenge, and whilst everything we do to support J is aimed at reducing this, it is important that you understand that this may happen from time to time, and especially in a period of change and transition, J`s behaviours don’t define him, but an awareness of this is important

As we are building a new team, and J has a large package of support (three to one), we are looking for a range of people who may be available full or part time

To be successful for this role, you should have the following skills:

  • Have a background in care and support – if you have experience of working with people who may have complex challenges, this would be advantageous
  • Have a positive approach to supporting individuals, even on the difficult days!
  • Positive approach to dealing with behaviours that may challenge, and have a positive approach to supporting the reduction of these
  • Be pragmatic and patient
  • Be prepared to work as part of a team and working together to provide the right support, but also work together to ensure that J`s best interests are met
  • Reliability – As J will have a large team, continuity and reliability is important
  • Ideally you will have a driving licence, J has his own car, so the ability to be able to drive this is crucial to accessing the community, and whilst we can accept non drivers, we are limited to how many we can take as we must have a driver on each shift (we can be more flexible on night shift.

The roles available as follows

  • The support is required 24/7 so we are looking for a range of people who may wish to work days or waking nights (with possible sleepovers)
  • We do not expect people to want to work day and night shifts, we would expect people to want to work day shifts or night shifts, if you wish to work a combination of days or nights and you are flexible, then this is great, but not a requirement
  • The shift patterns are likely to be based on a 12-hour shift, 8am to 8pm, and 8pm to 8am
  • We are looking for people who may wish to work full or part time, but the shift patterns are as stated, therefore part time may be one or two 12-hour shifts, we would not be able to split the shift patterns purely based on the activities that may occur and the disruption this may cause.
