Job description

Location: Fareham, Hampshire

Days & Hours: Permanent hours available as follows:

  1. Week 1: Monday, 19:00-22:00
  2. Week 2: Thursday, 13:00-17:00

Bank hours are available. This is a large care team, and there are always bank hours available to cover annual leave and sickness. Hours vary weekly, with some weeks offering full-time hours. Shift times range from 3 to over 10 hours and can include days and sleeping nights. You can choose to work only days, only nights, or a combination of both.

Pay:

  • £13.65 per hour – Monday to Friday, Days, 8:00am to 8:00pm
  • £15.00 per hour – Monday to Friday, Waking Nights, 8:00pm to 8:00am
  • £15.00 per hour – Weekends, Days, 8:00am to 8:00pm
  • £16.00 per hour – Weekends, Waking Nights, 8:00pm to 8:00am
  • National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage per hour (dependent on age), Monday to Sunday, Sleeping Nights, 10:00pm to 7:00am

Additional requirements:

  • Driver required: Yes, to drive Verity's wheelchair accessible vehicle (automatic).
  • Accommodation during shifts: Own room with toilet and tea-making facilities for sleeping night shifts.
  • Pets: The family has one small dog, which lives in the main part of the house (away from care areas).
  • Interviews: Initial telephone interview followed by face-to-face interview if successful.
  • Start date: ASAP, subject to employment checks.

About Verity: Verity is in her mid-40s with an acquired brain injury. She lives independently with a team of Support Workers providing 24-hour care. She receives support with all aspects of care, including hoisting, personal care, PEG feeding, catheter care, pressure care, suctioning, and respiratory care. Training will be provided, and team members should be willing and able to learn her care needs.

Verity enjoys engaging in social activities like quizzes, watching TV and films, going to the cinema, theatre, shopping, and celebrating holidays. She has a wheelchair-accessible vehicle for outings. She cannot communicate verbally but expresses needs through body language and facial expressions. She enjoys soap dramas and other TV programs, including some adult content.

Support involves assistance and supervision at all times, including overnight care with a waking night and sleeping night Support Worker. The sleeping night Support Worker has a private suite and is only woken if needed.

Physical tasks include moving and handling with hoisting equipment; training will be provided. The ideal candidate is organized, dedicated, calm, proactive, enthusiastic, and able to work with patience, tact, understanding, warmth, and compassion.
